Summer Camps

Summer Theater Camp: July 10th – 14th
Come join us for a week of theater arts training in a summer camp atmosphere! Classes may include improvisation, character development, musical theater, stage movement, storytelling, dance, and more will be offered daily, along with songs, games, and crafts that make all summer camps so much fun! Space is limited so register today!

Eligibility: Rising Kindergarten through Ninth Grade

Cost: $180/per camper (includes daily snacks, camp t-shirt, and Friday evening dinner)

Production Camp Kids:  June 19th –  23rd
Show Title: Tortoise Vs. Hare: This Time It’s Personal!
Eligibility: Ages 7 through 10
Cost: $180/per camper (includes daily snacks and camp t-shirt)

Are you ready to see the race of the century? Campers will be training all week to create costumes, sets, props for the play being performed at the end of the week. The show being performed at the end of the week is the Tortoise VS. Hare: This Time It’s Personal!

Production Camp Teens:  June 26th – 30th
Show title:  The Game of Tiaras
Eligibility:
Ages 11 through 14
Cost: $180/per camper (includes daily snacks and camp t-shirt)

Tragedy and hilarity combine when an aging King decides to split his kingdom. Campers will be training all week to create costume pieces, sets, and props along with some stage combat. The show being performed at the end of the week is the Game of Tiaras. Join the body count and sign up!

Four County Players Scholarship Program

Thank you for your interest in Four County Players.  We award scholarships directly to post-secondary institutions in amounts up to $1,000.00 using funds earned from sales in our Bistro.  We invite students who are entering or continuing at a post-secondary institution and who have volunteered at Four County Players to submit an application.  The 2023 Founders Scholarship application is live!

Eligibility:  

  • Applicant must have been involved in either a Mainstage or Cellar production or contributed forty hours of service to the theater in the last twenty four months. 
  • Applicant may apply to renew the scholarship one time if he or she is enrolled in a post-secondary institution and contributes forty hours of volunteer service to Four County Players in the last twenty four months.

Acting Workshop with Jessica Harris

Looking for ways to bring your acting skills to the next level? Want to learn the essential tips and tricks every performer should know? Join us for this special acting class! This workshop is perfect for actors of all experiences looking to enhance their craft. Together, we’ll work on scenes and monologues, discuss acting technique, and have a terrific time. No experience necessary – just a willingness to learn and grow on and off the stage! Open to ages 16+. Attire: Comfortable, moveable clothes. Monologues prepared in advance are optional; we’ll have some available to read on-site.
Jessica Harris is the Founder and Artistic Director of Empowered Players, a 501(c)3 arts education nonprofit in Fluvanna, Virginia. Through EP, she directs and provides yearlong accessible arts programs for K-12 students, and her TEDx Talk titled “The Transformative Power of Theater in Rural Communities” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkmnz6P0IMk) highlights her work. She is also Co-Chair of the Theatre for Youth Division of the Virginia Theatre Association. Jessica holds a Master’s in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia, where she also earned an interdisciplinary B.A in arts nonprofit management & education. Her work often examines the intersection of arts, education, and community connection. Selected Directing Credits: Into the Woods (Live Arts), The Niceties (Fluvanna Arts Council), Dancing with Myself (Four County Players), The Black Monologues, I’m Game, and Locked/Loaded (UVA).
